About Us

Leeara Park is located on 13acres in the heart of the beautiful Swan Valley in Perth, Western Australia.  This young boutique stud was established in 2005, run by the Reside Family, predominantly sisters Caris and Brittany.  This is how our story unfolds……

Some people may have thought the task was impossible for the both of us to become so successful throughout the years.  Coming from a non-horsey background, our parents Ron and Corinne had originally bought land in the Valley for the purpose of growing grapevines and making wine, however this was altered slightly!

In 1997 we began riding lessons and eventually acquired our first two horses, a 22 year old Palomino mare “Tiara” and not long after a 6 year old Chestnut Mare “Skye”. These two girls proved to be invaluable in teaching us many fundamental skills about riding, caring for and the upkeep of a horse.  During the following years we attended the local Pony Club and unofficial gymkhanas nearby. Unfortunately over a period of time colic took the lives of these two beautiful girls.

A black brown galloway was then purchased that had done official showing “Minute to Midnight”.  Levi was a gentleman to do anything with and taught us further skills about the official showing world.  We were offered the opportunity to show the successful child’s pony “Glo-Brook Skylark” and so she was leased for Britt to campaign which led to success in official competition.  Once this lease ended the newcomer pony “Weatherly Royal Romance” was purchased and official showing really set in!  Romeo and Levi carried us to our first Royal Show competitions in 2002 and 2003.

In 2004 the decision was made to sell Levi onto a new home to help another young rider learn the strings of the showing field.  We commenced looking for a quality newcomer thoroughbred for Caris and after much deliberation and searching in Western Australia, we found the hack we were looking for in Victoria.  Thank you to Maggie Lees for her honesty and integrity in selling us Jubes (“Perfect by Nature”) – marking the beginning of her fantastic business, Horse Select.

Then we really started getting serious! Caris and Perfect by Nature were crowned EFA Intermediate Hack of the Year, marking our first HOTY win for us.  At the same HOTY show, Weatherly Royal Romance was chosen in the top ten EFA Open Large Pony of the Year.  It was then time for Romeo to be sold onto his new home, and a suitable thoroughbred off the track found for Brittany.  Sam (“Striking”) was purchased from Victoria, again another big thank you to Maggie Lees, and he made the big trip to WA.

The next couple of years to follow were very exciting for us and our highly competitive ‘show team’ now being produced professionally.  The hard work and dedication continued to pay off with Perfect by Nature and Caris winning SHC (Europa Gift) Newcomer Hack of the Year in 2005, and Striking and Britt claiming this back to back title in 2006.  A huge feat which certainly helped set us up on the road to success.

Our passion for our animals grew from strength to strength. Having always admired the ever-so beautiful Riding Pony, LEEARA PARK was established in early 2005. The name was derived from our original horses “Tiara” and “Levi” with the S for “Skye” represented in our brand S5L.  We purchased a top quality yearling colt from Sefton Stud in Victoria at 8 months of age named “Royal and Regal of Sefton” (Rolle), by the renowned sire ‘Kirreway Ambition’ out of ‘Nampara Royal Rumour’.  And so the stud was born…

The purchase of Rolle led to many more adventures and much success in the led showing circuit.   Rolle himself won almost everything he could win here in Western Australia, and his subsequent progeny have well and truly proven themselves by being awarded many major titles throughout the state.

In 2007 and 2008 the team grew from strength to strength, with a highlight being when Perfect by Nature won the 2008 SHC Large Hack of the Year.  We attended the Grand National Championships in 2009 where Jubes and Caris were chosen as Top ten Large Hack in Australia, and Brittany awarded Top ten rider 17-21years.

2009 marked the year that our first home bred pony “Leeara Park First Edition” (Rathowen XL x Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold) hit the ridden showring.  After an extensive highly successful in hand career, Leo did not disappoint by being Runner up both EFA and SHC Newcomer Large Pony of the Year, Arabian Derivative ridden Pony of the Year and was Reserve Champion Large Pony at the Perth Royal Show, qualifying him for the Grand Nationals in his first season.  Leo competed at the 2010 National Riding Pony Show and was awarded National Supreme Champion Child’s Ridden Riding Pony at the tender age of 4 years; boy were we proud to have bred and produced a National Champion!  Leo competed at the Grand Nationals in Sydney and was then sold to his new family in New Zealand enjoying huge success thus becoming a fantastic ambassador for our stud overseas.

2010 onwards has seen us produce many horses that have proven to be amongst the best in the business including three Supreme Led Championships and many led and ridden Champions at Royal level, plus various Horse of the Year titles, led young stock success and many Grand National qualifiers, open saddle horses, hunters and rider classes.

Experience, knowledge gained and utmost dedication has proved invaluable in our ability to breed quality young stock that are highly successful in hand and saddle ponies, as well as producing off the track thoroughbreds.  We are extremely proud of the Leeara Park team and we aim to continue producing horses and ponies of the highest caliber with sustained success throughout the country.

We hope you enjoy browsing through our website.
